Safeguarding Children
Cwmbach Community Primary School has at its priority, the protection and wellbeing of all pupils in the school.
In our school the HeadTeacher has overall responsibility for child protection matters and acts as a source of advice and support to other school staff.
Our school also has a nominated child protection governor, who has to ensure that the school has a child protection policy in place, which is consistent with the AA Wales Child Protection Procedures (2002), that all staff in the school must follow where there are concerns or suspicions of child abuse.
If we receive information about a child, which suggest that he/she has been abused or at risk of being abused, we have a duty to refer these concerns to the Children's Services, or the police without delay. We have no discretion in this matter.
Our first concern as a school is you child's welfare and where we have general concerns, thses will be raised with you and we would want to work with you, to remedy the situtation. However, there may be concerns as listed above, where we have to talk to other agencies before we contact you. Should this be necessary, we want to reassure you that any concernswe have about your child will then be fully discussed with you in a way is consistent with you child's best interest.

Security
At Cwmbach Nursery we feel it is vital to create a secure and safe enviorment for all children and adults in the shcool.
All adults working in the school are CRB checked. To prevent unauthorised or unknown visitors entering the school, please ring the bell at the front entrance door.
All children are well supervised during playtimes and lunchtimes and staff ensure that security gates are closed.
Disability Access Access/ Discrimination
Everyone is welcome in our school, Unfortunately due to physical lay out wheel chairs users would have to use the entrance to the rear of the building where the ramp is located.
Our school aims to be an inclusive school. We actively seek to remove the barriers to learning and participation, that can hinder or exclude individual pupils. or groups of pupils.
We will not treat a pupil witha disability less favourably than others because of the nature of his/ her disbility.
We will make all reasonable adjustments to ensure that a pupil with disabilities is not placed at a disadvantage.
We will do our best to anticipate the needs of the pupil with disbilities before he/ she joins.

Absences
It is important that your child attends school regularly and should only be take out of school if it is absolutely necessary.
All children's attendance is monitored and reported to the LA regularly. If a child's attendance is cause for concern, the HT will discuss this with you to see if there any issues we can help you with.
Parents are asked to inform the school on the first day of absence if their child is unable to attend school. On return to school a letter of explanation of any absence whether trhough illness or holiday is needed for school records.
It is important too, that children arrive and leave school on time. We ask parents to note the times of the school day and ensure that their child is in school at those times.

These children are monitored by the teaching staff/ Head teacher and then Individual Play Plans ( IPP'S) are written to suit each child's need, in the line with the Cod of Practice.
These will show the short term targets set for the child and the teaching strategies to be used. It will also indicate planned outcomes and the date for the plan to be reviewed. In most cases this review will take place once a term, to which the parents are invited to attend.
We inform parents of any outside intervention and we share the process of decision making, by providing clear inforamtion releating to the education of children with special needs.
Children's progress is monitored regularly and outside agencies may be consequently be called in to assess the child's needs.
Every effort is made to accommodate children with Special Needs, and very good relations are held with local Special Needs, and very good relations are held with local Health visitors, Schools Special Needs Dept at the Psychological service who can so often assist the school greatly in such matters.
