Special Needs
Mrs Williams has the responsibility of being the special needs co- ordinator in the school and works in collaboration with the teaching staff to identify children who it is felt have particular educational, social or behavioural needs. For example, if a child needs extra support or to the contrary, if a child is particularly bright and needs extension work.

These children are monitored by the teaching staff/ Head teacher and then Individual Play Plans ( IPP'S) are written to suit each child's need, in the line with the Cod of Practice.
These will show the short term targets set for the child and the teaching strategies to be used. It will also indicate planned outcomes and the date for the plan to be reviewed. In most cases this review will take place once a term, to which the parents are invited to attend.

We inform parents of any outside intervention and we share the process of decision making, by providing clear inforamtion releating to the education of children with special needs.

Children's progress is monitored regularly and outside agencies may be consequently be called in to assess the child's needs.
Every effort is made to accommodate children with Special Needs, and very good relations are held with local Special Needs, and very good relations are held with local Health visitors, Schools Special Needs Dept at the Psychological service who can so often assist the school greatly in such matters.
