Children's achievement is assessed by the teaching staff on a ongoing basis. Your child's progress will be recorded during his/ her stay in the nursery and this information will be passed on to the receiving scholl. Throughout the school year, parents will have the opportunity to discuss the child's progress.
The Welsh Assembly Government requires all children entering Foundation Phase to be assesed against a range of behaviours. This on-entry assessment, undertaken within the first six weeks, will provide a "baseline" of where you child is and help the school plan his/ her next steps. A written report will be given to parents/carers during the child's first term which covers four developmental.
Personal, Social and Emotional.
Speaking and Listening.
Reading and Writing.
Sort, Order and Number.
Currently the Welsh Assembly Government is reviewing the above.
At the end of Nursery, parents will be preseneted with another written report before their child goes to the Infant School.
Parents are welcome to visit school to speak with the Headteacher or teacher to discuss queries or concerns they may have regarding their child's education.
We highly recommend that you make an appointment prior to the visit.
